Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has begun an investigation into a case accusing Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Aishath Nahula of corruption.
The case submitted by a private party on November 26 accused Minister Nahula of profiting from approving the registration of vehicles in violation of the regulations. ACC stated that it has begun the investigation and is currently obtaining the relevant documents. The commission stated that it will question the minister if necessary.
The case accuses Minister Nahula of illegally approving the registration of 57 vehicles for profit and neglecting to check whether the vehicles have the necessary import permits. It states that the minister had approved the registrations in secret by neglecting to submit and enter the relevant documents at the ministry. It further states that the minister had worked with a company that imports vehicles.
