Faresmathoda boat breaks record for highest catch

Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company Limited (MIFCO) has announced a fishing boat from Faresmathoda in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll has made the record for the highest catch sold in a single day using sustainable pole and line fishing.

MIFCO stated Bahiraa Boat broke the record by selling 58.6 metric tonnes in a single day and earning more than USD65,206 in revenue. The record for the highest number of fish caught was previously set by TS Line from Madaveli which was 57.152 metric tonnes of fish.

Bahiraa Boat is equipped with the most modern equipment and is one of the largest vessels currently used in fishing in the Maldives. The vessel has 37 crew members in total.
