Wages will be increased for all health workers: Gov’t

Minister of Health Ahmed Naseem has stated that wages will be increased for all health workers.

Speaking to PSM News, Minister Naseem assured that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih will fulfill his pledge to increase the wages of health workers in the first quarter of next year, adding that no health worker will be neglected in the government’s pay harmonisation efforts. He noted the hard work of employees in the health sector and said that they will be pleased with the changes to their salaries.

Additionally, Minister Naseem expressed confidence that wages will be increased for doctors and nurses as well as employees working in middle and lower management. He added that the government will implement the changes in a fair manner.

The government has conducted studies to draw up the new salary structure for health workers, as part of the pay harmonisation efforts to improve wages across all sectors.

Furthermore, the state budget for 2023 has prioritised the development of the health sector. As such, USD324 million has been allocated for next year, with USD266 million allocated for recurrent expenditure and USD58 million for capital expenditure.
