Gov’t vows to improve RTL ferry service

Minister of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure Mohamed Aslam has vowed to improve the Raajje Transport Link (RTL) high-speed ferry service to meet the expectations of citizens. He made the remark in response to requests from residents of Kulhudhuffushi City to make changes to the service, including adhering to flight times when traveling from Kulhudhuffushi to Hanimaadhoo, Haa Dhaalu Atoll.

Speaking at a ceremony in Kulhudhuffushi City, Minister Aslam said the RTL ferry service is important for empowering citizens and developing the atolls. He said islands need to be connected to develop the atolls and that the government is closely monitoring the ferry service in order to make improvements. He added that the government will continue to listen to the people and that changes will be made to the ferry service in accordance with the wishes of the residents of Kulhudhuffushi City.

Also at the ceremony, the Mayor of Kulhudhuffushi City Mohamed Athif said the lack of scheduled and evening flights in Kulhuddhufushi Airport has been a challenge and that the residents have been greatly expecting the ferries to travel to the Hanimaadhoo Airport in the morning to meet the flight times.

Kulhudhuffushi City Council has stated that the RTL ferry service has provided more opportunities for local businesses and residents. The city also sees many citizens arriving for medical treatment.
