US commits additional USD3 million to Maldives

The United States (US) has committed an additional USD3 million to the Maldives, as part of the ninth amendment to the Development Objective Grant Agreement (DOAG).

Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Khaleel and USAID Mission Director Gabriel Grau signed the ninth amendment to the DOAG at a ceremony held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The US committed an additional USD3 million to the Maldives to improve the country’s technical capacity to manage public finances and improve the resilience of its economic and democratic governance.

The DOAG is a landmark development cooperation agreement signed between the Maldives and the US in 2019. , So far, eight amendments have been brought to the agreement, bringing the total contribution from the US to USD25.94 million.
