The Parliament of the Maldives has approved the appointment of Ali Faiz as the High Commissioner of the Maldives to Sri Lanka with 62 votes in favour.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih nominated Faiz as the High Commissioner to Sri Lanka to replace Omar Abdul Razzak, who was appointed as the Ambassador to Belgium and the Mission to the European Union (EU).
Ali Faiz is the President of the Police Board established under the Police Service Act in 2021. He previously served as the Managing Director of the Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company Limited (MIFCO) and the Chief of Protocol at the President’s Office during President Mohamed Nasheed’s administration.
