Fuel Services Maldives Private Limited (FSM) has arranged for fishermen to purchase fuel at a special rate from the Hulhumale' Fishermen's Jetty. The arrangement will reduce the price of fuel purchased by fishermen in the Greater Male' Region.
Ensis Fisheries Private Limited has been supplying fuel to the fishermen from the Hulhumale fishermen's jetty. However, FSM has now signed an agreement to operate the fuel facility of Ensis in Hulhumale'. The agreement was signed by Chairman of Ensis Fisheries Mohamed Waseem and Managing Director of FSM Mohamed Gasam. Under the agreement, FSM will provide the service of supplying fuel at the same rate as the Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) from the Hulhumale' fishermen’s jetty.
Speaking regarding the agreement, Gasam said the government aims to provide fuel to fishermen at a reasonable price. He, however, said the special rate is applicable to registered fishing vessels only.
MIFCO sells a litre of diesel for USD1.15 to fishing vessels.
