The Maldives has requested the United Nations (UN) Country Team to enhance coordination for the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF).
Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid met with the UN Country Team during their annual retreat. During the meeting, Minister Shahid shared his experience as the President of the United Nations General Assembly, (UNGA) noting the important role country teams need to play in translating what is happening in New York to the local level, helping connect the various processes, and find opportunities for projects and examples from the national level, to be featured in events and processes globally.
Furthermore, Minister Shahid thanked the UN Country team led by UN Resident Coordinator Catherine Haswell for their dedication and commitment to supporting the development path of the government of the Maldives. He also requested UN Country Team to discuss ways to enhance coordination and work together toward the implementation of the UNSDCF 2022-2026.
