Chief Inspector of the Maldives Police Service (MPS) Rilwan Shareef has become the first Maldivian police officer to receive the opportunity to work at the International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol).
Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed handed over the Letter of Approval of Secondment to Chief Inspector Rilwan at a special ceremony. The Executive Management Board of MPS and the National Central Bureau officers gathered to congratulate Chief Inspector Rilwan.
Commissioner Hameed said Chief Inspector Rilwan will work at the Interpol Financial Crime and Anti-Corruption Centre in Lyon, France, for three years. He added that the secondment is a demonstration of the commitment of MPS to international police cooperation and its resolve to fight against international crime.
Interpol is an inter-governmental organisation with 195 member countries. MPS has worked with Interpol on different crimes. However, it is the first time MPS has had the opportunity to work directly at the Interpol headquarters.
