First cruise ship arrives since Maldivian borders opened

Maldives Association of Yacht Agents (MAYA) has stated that the first cruise ship arrived in the Maldives after the opening of the border following the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020.

The cruise ship was brought in by MAYA after services for such vessels were temporarily suspended due to the border closure. The cruise from Malta sailed from Port Victoria, Seychelles. MAYA stated that 420 tourists arrived on the cruise ship. The association said the seven-star cruise ship first sailed to Lhohifushi in Kaafu Atoll and will sail to Kudafushi in Raa Atoll.

Furthermore, MAYA revealed that the association has resumed cruise ship services due to the peak tourist season. MAYA also said many cruise ships are planned for the coming days.
