Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has captured a foreign fishing boat that had illegally entered the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of the Maldives.
MNDF stated the fishing boat was found 35 nautical miles east of Dhiffushi, Kaafu Atoll. The MNDF Coast Guard's Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) received a report from a local fishing boat about a foreign fishing boat illegally operating in the EEZ of the Maldives by a local fishing boat in the area. The Central Area Coast Guard Second Squadron's FIC Hakura launch arrived in the area and seized the fishing boat on November 20.
MNDF appreciated the efforts of the crew of the local fishing vessel that tipped-off MRCC.
