Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid has said that the bilateral relations between the Maldives and Japan have maintained sound and steady growth and have stood the test of time. He made the remarks in his message of felicitations to Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan Hayashi Yoshimasa on the 55th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
In his message, Minister Shahid conveyed his warm greetings and sincere good wishes from the Maldives to the friendly people of Japan as both countries celebrate the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. He also said that the partnership has grown to encompass many areas of cooperation notably the contribution towards the socio-economic development of the Maldives. As such, both countries continue to enjoy excellent and multifaceted relations which are underpinned by strong bonds of friendship and expanding people-to-people exchanges.
In conclusion, Minister Shahid said that both countries are confident that what they have accomplished within the last five decades has been mutually beneficial and remain assured that the best years of their partnership are still ahead of them.
