President recognises role of MMPRC in tourism promotion

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has recognised the vital role of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) in promoting the Maldives as a tourism destination and extended his gratitude to the staff for their invaluable contributions to the tourism sector. He made the remarks at a meeting with the management and staff of MMPRC.

The Maldives was named the World's Leading Destination for the third consecutive year at the World Travel Awards (WTA) 2022, while MMPRC claimed the title of World's Leading Tourism Board which is a first for the Maldives. The awards were unveiled on November 11 at the WTA Grand Final Gala Ceremony 2022 in Muscat, Oman.

Speaking with the company's staff, President Solih recognised their hard work and dedication during the COVID-19 pandemic. Describing tourism as the mainstay of the country's economy, he assured MMPRC of the administration's cooperation and support.

Moreover, President Solih was presented with a commemorative plaque of appreciation, a copy of the book series titled Tales of Maldives, and a book on the company's accomplishments in 2021.
