A team from Türkiye has arrived in the Maldives and has begun identifying issues at the King Salman Mosque.
Worshipers have expressed concern over the low volume of the sound system at the mosque and the electrical issues inside the premises, as well as problems with air conditioners. Ministry of Islamic Affairs said a Turkish technician team has now arrived in Maldives to identify the work to be done to resolve the problems encountered at the King Salman Mosque. The ministry revealed the agreement for the venture is scheduled to be signed with the Turkish experts to repair the air conditioning of the Salman Mosque. The ministry also said the ordering of the equipment and materials required for renovation is currently underway and the repairs will start as soon as the materials are procured.
The King Salman Mosque was opened to the public for prayers on April 1. Minister Zahir previously revealed that the mosque would be officially opened by a delegation of the Government of Saudi Arabia, but said the delegation has not yet given a definite date for their arrival.
The King Salman Mosque is a donation to the Maldives by the King of Saudi Arabia Salman bin Abdul-Aziz Al-Saud. The mosque was designed and constructed by Turkish contractor Alke-Turmaks. The mosque is designed to accommodate 4,000 worshippers at once and showcases Islamic culture and heritage.
