President extends greetings on Republic Day

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has extended greetings to the people of the Maldives on Republic Day. He extended greetings to Maldivians and expressed hope they will experience peace and happiness for the next year.

Maldives became a Republic on November 11, 1968. Each year, this day is marked as the Republic Day of Maldives. Today the country marks its 55th Republic Day. The core principle of a republic system is governing a country through representatives elected by the people, for the betterment of the whole community. This system is also based on the decisions made by people and involves people in changes brought to the system.

The official ceremony to mark Republic Day has been scheduled for the evening of November 11. The President’s Award for Special Achievement will be conferred at the ceremony. The awards will be conferred to 13 recipients for memorising the Holy Quran, nine recipients for attaining significant achievements in higher education and training certification equivalent to the Maldives Qualification Authority (MQA) rank 10 with an exceptional result, 41 recipients for achieving the highest honours at the respective higher education institutions. an individual who has achieved outstanding achievement in the productive and innovative work of talented youth for national development and a company that has made outstanding progress in human resource development and people building in the tourism sector.
