Republic Day function rescheduled

The official ceremony to mark the Republic Day of the Maldives has been rescheduled for November 11.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih made the decision after the fire incident that occurred on the morning of November 10 at Maafannu Nirufehige, resulting in 10 deaths. Ministry of Home Affairs requested guests to attend the function at the scheduled time on November 11. President's Office earlier revealed the President’s Award for Special Achievement will be conferred at the Republic Day function.

The Special Awards Committee at the President’s Office has decided to present the President’s Award for Special Achievement to 13 individuals for memorising the Holy Quran, nine individuals for attaining significant achievements in higher education and training certification equivalent to the Maldives Qualification Authority (MQA) rank 10 with an exceptional result, 41 individuals for achieving the highest honours at the respective higher education institutions. an individual who has achieved outstanding achievement in the productive and innovative work of talented youth for national development and a company that has made outstanding progress in human resource development and people building in the tourism sector.

Every year, the president awards individuals whose skills and performance are a source of national pride and those who have made substantial contributions to national progress.
