Maldives Police Service (MPS) has requested the public to provide information on any foreigners who were missing since the fire incident that occurred in the morning of November 10 at Maafannu Nirufehige, resulting in 10 deaths.
MPS requested that anyone with information report to the Serious and Organised Department, as the bodies of some of the victims could not be identified.
Furthermore, Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) confirmed that the fire incident occurred at Maafannu Nirufehige and not Senrose. Media outlets previously cited the relevant authorities as stating that the fire incident occurred inside the garage of Maafannu Senrose, which is located next to Nirufehige.
However, MNDF stated that the fire occurred at Nirufahige, affecting Senrosee, and that Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan, and Indian nationals had lived in the building, which also contained many gas containers. Around 30 Maldivians and 28 foreigners were assisted after the incident.
