The government of Hungary has discussed increasing investment opportunities in the Maldives. The discussions were held during the courtesy call by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Péter Szijjártó on President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
During the meeting, President Solih and Minister Szijjártó spoke about enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries and emphasised their commitment to strengthening cooperation in areas of mutual interest and benefit. Minister Szijjártó outlined the existing ties between the two countries and emphasised the recently signed agreements. He noted that Hungary has increased the number of scholarship opportunities offered to Maldivian students from 15 to 25.
Meanwhile, President Solih highlighted the commitment of the administration to delivering higher education opportunities to Maldivian students and extended his appreciation for the decision to increase Hungarian scholarships to the Maldives. He also thanked the government of Hungary for easing visa facilitation for Maldivians.
Furthermore, President Solih extended his gratitude to Hungary for its support in evacuating Maldivian students in Ukraine. They also discussed enhancing cooperation in various fields of mutual interest, including investment opportunities in the Maldives. They reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the coming years.
