Former Deputy Speaker of Parliament Moosa Manik has rejoined the main ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).
Moosa, who previously filled the position of Chairperson of MDP, handed over his membership form at a meeting held at Muliaage', the Official Residence of the President of the Maldives. The meeting was attended by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, Chairman of MDP and Minister of Economic Development Fayyaz Ismail, Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid, Minister of Defence Maria Ahmed Didi, and the Parliamentary Group Leader of MDP Mohamed Aslam.
Speaking at the meeting, President Solih said Moosa rejoining MDP is an added encouragement for the party. He also said that Moosa has always worked for political reform.
Moosa who was one of the most experienced political figures in the Maldives was expelled from MDP in 2016.
