Health Protection Agency (HPA) has urged individuals to take extra precautions as the number of COVID-19 cases is increasing across the Maldives.
HPA issued a press release urging people to be vigilant as the spread of COVID-19 is increasing. The number of cases of fever and flu is increasing in the country. There were 185 reported cases in September, compared to 328 in October. Therefore, HPA urged everyone to always take precautions to protect themselves, their families, and society.
HPA stated some important steps to prevent flu and COVID-19 include testing, wearing a mask to cover the mouth and nose, maintaining distance when in public places, washing hands thoroughly with soap or sanitiser, refraining from being in crowded places if there are any symptoms of the disease, and complete vaccination and booster dose for persons of COVID-19 vaccine age.
HPA stated that the number of cases in the country is increasing every week. A total of 19 people tested positive in the first week of October. The number of cases increased in the first week of November to 43 cases. The number of positive cases from resorts, industrial islands, and liveaboards has risen to 45 cases in the first week of November, bringing the total number of cases across the country to 185,454. The Maldives has recorded 309 deaths related to COVID-19 so far.
