Former President Abdulla Yameen has travelled to Addu City as part of his presidential campaign.
Spokesperson of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) Heena Waleed said former President Yameen will be visiting all islands in Addu City. During the visit, he will be meeting the residents in order to gain their opinions on various issues and describe his vision as president of a new term.
Former President Yameen began visiting the atolls after announcing he will be running in the 2023 presidential election. During the campaign, he is gathering information on public opinion to formulate PPM’s manifesto. The main opposition party awarded the presidential ticket after its senate chose Yameen to be the presidential candidate representing the opposition coalition consisting of PPM and People’s National Congress (PNC).
