Kendhikulhudhoo in Noonu Atoll has been promoted as a tourist destination at the HaaToSeenu Travel Fair held in Hulhumale'.
The fair was organised by Play Day World Maldives. The two-day event was a platform for interested real estate developers and investors to explore new venture opportunities in Kendhikulhudhoo.
Speaking to PSM News, President of Kendhikulhudhoo Island Council Mohamed Rauf said that there is no guest house business on the island but there are many people who want to start the business. He said the island was not planned to provide tourism services before but various opportunities are being sought now with the preparation of the land use plan of the island. He said world-class luxury brands are running resorts in Noonu Atoll and there is a demand from tourists due to the international airport. Therefore, he said there is hope to make Kendhilkulhadhoo a prominent tourist destination.
The event was held to promote Kendhikulhadhoo as a tourist destination for locals and foreigners. The customs and culture of the island were shown and a 3D model of the island was showcased to the visitors.
