Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has conducted 150 activities to promote the Maldives as a top travel destination so far this year.
Speaking to PSM News, Managing Director of MMPRC Thoyyib Mohamed said the Maldives has been the country that has shown the most competence in managing the COVID-19 pandemic and developing its tourism sector. He said the achievement was due to the measures taken by the government to re-open the country’s borders and the efforts of the stakeholders in the tourism sector.
Additionally, Thoyyib provided details on the marketing activities that MMPRC has conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic and said that most of the activities had to be held virtually. He, however, said the company is now participating in fairs and roadshows physically and has conducted 150 marketing activities this year alone. He said the company has so far participated in 36 fairs, four roadshows, and 16 familiarisation trips.
Furthermore, Thoyyib said the marketing activities are conducted with airlines, travel agencies, tour operators, marketing firms, and individuals. He added that the budget for next year’s action plan has been formulated and that it includes 24 marketing activities.
