Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Ahmed Zahir Ali has stated a team from Türkiye will be arriving in the Maldives to fix issues at King Salman Mosque. Worshipers have expressed concern over the low volume of the sound system at the mosque and the electrical issues inside the premises, as well as problems with air conditioners.
Speaking to PSM News, Minister Zahir said the team from Türkiye will be arriving on November 1 to fix the sound system and the air conditioners. He noted that the government has spent a huge amount on installing the sound system and that the ministry will be working with the team to come up with a permanent solution.
The King Salman Mosque was opened to the public for prayers on April 1. Minister Zahir previously revealed that the mosque would be officially opened by a delegation of the Government of Saudi Arabia, but said the delegation has not yet given a definite date for their arrival.
The King Salman Mosque is a donation to the Maldives by the King of Saudi Arabia Salman bin Abdul-Aziz Al-Saud. The mosque was designed and constructed by Turkish contractor Alke-Turmaks. The mosque is designed to accommodate 4,000 worshippers at once and showcases Islamic culture and heritage.
