No room to criticise gov’t land, housing schemes: President’s Office

The President’s Office has stated there is no room to criticise the government land and housing schemes.

Speaking at a press conference, the Spokesperson at the President’s Office Miuvaan Mohamed said the administration has made it easy for citizens to apply for land plots and housing by establishing a transparent method for the application and evaluation process. He assured the administration will continue to provide public housing in accordance with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s pledge and that the work will be done in a way that allows no room to question its fairness. He noted that the verification process is ongoing and President Solih has vowed to give out the registrations before the end of his term.

Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure is currently evaluating the applications submitted to the Gedhoruverin portal for the 5,000 land plots under the Binveriyaa housing scheme, and 4,000 housing units under the Gedhoruveriyaa housing scheme. The planning ministry officially launched the portal on June 26. The ministry revealed that it received 35,861 housing applications by the deadline which ended on October 15. It includes 15,164 forms submitted for the Binveriyaa housing scheme, 14,489 forms submitted for three-room apartments, and 6,208 forms submitted for two-room apartments under the Gedhoruveriyaa housing scheme. The ministry stated forms will be evaluated from the point of submission to the portal and the final verification will be completed within the next three months.
