Civil Society Award opens for nominations

Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment has opened nominations for the Civil Society Award.

The youth ministry stated the Civil Society Award will be given to recognise civil society organisations that contribute to the well-being of society through community empowerment, volunteer work, and contribution to the development of the nation.

Nominations can be submitted before 1200hrs, November 10. The awards will be given for nine different categories, and a special recognition award will be given by Minister of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment Ahmed Mahloof. The awards will be given for the sectors of education, environment, special needs, labour, drug rehabilitation, health, arts, culture, information and communications technology (ICT), and the protection and empowerment of women and children.

Nominees will be evaluated based on their consistent contributions to the development of the nation as well as their entrepreneurship, level of prioritisation towards empowerment, and how their work has affected society. Nominations are only open for Maldivian civil society organisations which have submitted their yearly reports for the past two years. Nomination forms are available at the youth ministry’s website and organisations are required to nominate themselves.
