New Angolhitheemu Magistrate Court building inaugurated

Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Ahmed Muthasim Adnan has inaugurated the new building for the Angolhitheemu Magistrate Court.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Chief Justice Adnan said the new building will ease the provision of services to the public. He also highlighted the importance of making special accommodations for minors and following proper procedures during their summons.

Also at the ceremony, Chief Judicial Administrator Aishath Rizna expressed confidence that the new building will improve services and allow citizens to have a better experience of the justice system.

Angolhitheemu Island Council was tasked with constructing the new building in 2021. The fieldwork began in March and the building was constructed within eight months after the project was handed over to the council.

Angolhitheemu Magistrate Court was previously established in a two-room building, which made it difficult for the court to hold trials and conduct administrative tasks. The new building was designed to have separate locations for trials and administrative work.

Chief Justice Adnan was accompanied on his trip to Angolhitheemu, Raa Atoll, by Justice of the Supreme Court Dr. Azmiralda Zahir and Chief Judicial Administrator Aishath Rizna. During his visit, Chief Justice Adnan officially raised the flag at the new court building and met with the employees.
