Numerous opportunities are being created for youth: President

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated that numerous opportunities have been created to pave the way for a better future for the youth. He made the remark in a tweet on National Youth Day.

In the tweet, President Solih said the free degree programme, scholarship opportunities, technical and vocational education and training centres, sports centres, and small and medium enterprise (SME) loans are being provided for the future of the youth.

Also on Twitter, Minister of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment Ahmed Mahloof said the administration has conducted apprenticeship programmes, and provided thousands of job opportunities as well as educational opportunities and loans to the youth. He also included statistics in his tweet, which show the administration conducted 20,000 apprenticeship programmes, provided over 15,000 opportunities under the free degree programme, and disbursed USD31 million in loans.

The youth ministry also held a music show and family evening to celebrate National Youth Day. The events were held at the social centre. As such, young people enjoyed recreational activities during the family evening. Senior Youth Officer Aminath Nazima said the event aimed to increase the bond between family members and noted a large number of families with children attended the event. She said the event had various games and activities including racing competitions, photo booths, face painting, magic shows, and talent shows. Additionally, various activities were held during the music show, in which musicians also showcased their talent.
