The President’s Office has stated that all essential services will be established in all the inhabited islands during the current presidential term.
The Spokesperson at the President’s Office Miuvaan Mohamed made the remark at a press conference in response to a question regarding former President Abdulla Yameen’s pledge to establish essential services during his visit to some islands. Miuvaan said it should be concerning to the public that the former president had failed to establish the services during his tenure.
Furthermore, Miuvaan said the administration of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih governs under a decentralised policy, and not through a rule that is centralised in Male’ City. He said the decentralised policy entails establishing water supply and sewerage systems and other essential services in all inhabited islands. He assured that the current administration will make it so that there would be no work left to establish essential services by the end of the term.
Additionally, Miuvaan said the administration will continue to establish services equitably and commence development initiatives for all communities without being biased toward the size of the population.
