The National Awards Committee of the President’s Office has announced the decision to present the National Award of Honour to 10 recipients and the National Award of Recognition to 22 recipients.
The National Awards are conferred annually to recognise and encourage the efforts of individuals and organisations that contribute to the nation’s development and society’s benefit. The recipients are vetted and selected by the National Awards Committee.
At a special ceremony in Dharubaaruge on October 20, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih will confer the National Award of Recognition on 19 individual recipients and three organisations. Five of the National Award of Honour awardees are previous National Award of Recognition recipients. He will also deliver an address to the nation at the ceremony.
