President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has inaugurated the Maldives International Challenge 2022 badminton tournament being held at the Male’ Sports Complex.
The Badminton Association of the Maldives organised the tournament with endorsements from Badminton Asia and the Badminton World Federation. Badminton players from 25 countries, including top-ranking players around the world, are participating in the tournament being held from October 18-23.
Promoting the Maldives as a destination for international sporting events is a Presidential pledge. The main goal of the pledge is to allow Maldivian athletes to compete in international tournaments while promoting the Maldives as a sports tourism destination. It is the seventh international competition the Maldives is hosting this year.
