Maldives wins WTA Indian Ocean awards

The Maldives has won several awards under the Indian Ocean category of the World Travel Awards (WTA) 2022. The winners were announced at the WTA Africa and Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony 2022.

At the ceremony, the WTA announced the winners of the 2022 Indian Ocean’s Leading Destination award. The Maldives also won the award for the Indian Ocean's Leading Beach Destination and Leading Dive Destination. The hotly contested category for Indian Ocean’s Leading New Resort went to Jumeirah Maldives Olhahali Island, while the Indian Ocean’s Leading Luxury Island Resort was awarded to Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi, and Indian Ocean’s Leading Resort was won by Vakkaru Maldives.

Additionally, Get into Maldives Travel won the Indian Ocean’s Leading Luxury Tour Operator, and Simply Maldives won the Indian Ocean’s Leading Travel Agency. WTA also conferred the award for the Indian Ocean's Leading Airport to Velana International Airport (VIA), the Leading Airport Hotel to Hulhule’ Island Hotel (HIH), and the Leading Tourist Board to the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC).

Numerous Maldivian resorts were also awarded at the ceremony. As such, the award for Leading All-Inclusive Resort was to Constance Moofushi, the Leading Villa Resort award went to Grand Park Kodhipparu, and the Leading Water Villa Resort went to Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa. Additionally, the Leading Boutique Resort went to Fushifaru Maldives, the Most Romantic Resort award went to Baros Maldives, the Leading Dive Resort award went to Constance Moofushi, and the Leading Family Resort went to Kurumba Maldives. Meanwhile, JA Manafaru won the award for Leading Honeymoon Resort, and Conrad Maldives Rangali Island won the award for Leading Hotel.
