Over 35,000 applications received for housing scheme

The Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure has received 35,861 housing applications through the Gedhoruverin portal.

The new portal was officially launched on June 26 by Minister of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure Mohamed Aslam. The portal enables the submission of online applications for housing schemes announced by the government. It is also designed to provide information on the eligibility criteria and policies for housing schemes as well as updates on submitted applications through text or email notifications.

The government revealed that it received 35,861 housing applications by the deadline which ended on October 15. It includes 15,164 forms submitted for the Binveriyaa scheme, 14,489 forms submitted for three-room apartments, and 6,208 forms submitted for two-room apartments under the Gedhoruveriyaa scheme.

Speaking to the media, Senior Executive Director of the Planning Ministry Mohamed Arif stated forms will be evaluated from the point of submission to the portal and the final verification will be completed within the next three months. He added the recipients of land and flats will be determined fairly.

The ministry plans to give out 4,000 housing units under the Gedhoruveriyaa scheme and 5,000 land plots under the Binveriyaa scheme, which includes 1,000 land plots from Hulhumale', 2,000 land plots from Gulhifalhu, and 2,000 land plots from Giraavaru.
