Special exhibition held in Kaashidhoo to mark Farmer's Day

A special exhibition was held to mark National Farmers' Day in Kaashidhoo, Kaafu Atoll. The exhibition was officially opened by Minister of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture Dr. Hussain Rasheed Hassan.

Speaking at the official opening of the exhibition, Minister Hussain Rasheed said it was very important to have the resources needed to develop agriculture in the Maldives. He said that the farmers will also benefit from the availability of these items in one place.

A total of 19 participants took part in the exhibition. These include SME Development Finance Corporation (SDFC), Agro National Corporation (AgroNat), Pestex Maldives Private Limited, Prime Fertilisers Maldives Private Limited and Habitus Fresh Maldives Private Limited, and farmers from Kaashidhoo. The exhibition featured various stalls where farmers showcased their products, herbs and pesticides used in agriculture as well as other equipment, The stalls also provided information related to agriculture.

In addition to the exhibition, a dragon fruit planting activity called the School Garden Programme was launched at Kaashidhoo School. The school students also participated in the dragon fruit planting activity. The main goal of the programme was to expand agriculture to younger generations.

Furthermore, a lemon revival programme was also conducted in Kaashidhoo. The government donated 300 lemon trees to households on the island. The programme is aimed at reviving the production of lemons in the country. AgroNat also launched a community garden programme in Kaashishoo.
