Maalhos households connected to sewerage network

Maalhos Island Council has stated that the households have been connected to the sewerage network.

Male' Water and Sewerage Company Limited (MWSC) began establishing the water supply and sewerage systems in Maalhos in December last year.

Speaking to PSM News, Managing Director Hassan Shah said MWSC is carrying out its projects at a fast pace and that it has sent the storage tanks to Maalhos. He expressed confidence that the tanks will be assembled and the residents will receive the services soon.

MWSC has completed the installation of the main sewerage pipe while the installation of the main water supply pipe is 96% completed, after which the households will be connected to the network. The work on the water supply network has been stalled due to a shortage of resources. The company has nearly completed the construction of the reverse osmosis (RO) plant and workers are now assembling the water storage tanks.

The water and sewerage project in Maalhos was contracted to MWSC in December 2020, at a cost of USD3.9 million. The project is contracted to be completed in a duration of 540 days. MWSC is developing a 4.9km long water supply network and a 4.5km long sewerage network, which will be connected to 230 households.

Maalhos Island Council stated the residents are highly anticipating the completion of the project next year.
