Application opens for 30 land plots in Fainu

Fainu Island Council has opened the application process for 30 land plots on the island.

The island council revealed that 3,000 acres of land will be given to selected applicants. The lands are allocated in accordance with Fainu Residential Land Allocation Rules passed by the council. The council revealed land plots will be allocated from the west side of Fainu, Raa Atoll.

As per the rules, the requirements for applicants include being a Maldivian citizen over 18 years of age and not having any land registered in their name. The applicant shall not be a person who has acquired more than 600 acres of land from a property.

In addition, a government flat or a flat in any building must not be registered in the applicant's name. The rule also includes the rules and criteria for awarding points and the criteria to be taken into consideration in determining the most suitable applicant.

Speaking to PSM News, President of Fainu Island Council Moosa Umar Manik said after evaluating the application forms received, the aim is to allocate the land to the recipients of the 30 plots by December this year. The deadline for applications is October 23 and application forms can be submitted to the council office or via email.

Land plots were last allocated from the island in 2017.
