Vaavu Atoll Council signs MoU to develop floating resort

Vaavu Atoll Council has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Lewini Hotels and Resorts to develop the first floating resort in the Maldives.

The agreement was signed by the President of Vaavu Atoll Council Ali Shujau and the Vice President of Lewini Dr. Varisa Limsakul. The company will be developing a 6,038sqm resort on a lagoon near Rakeedhoo. The resort will have 40 rooms, five restaurants, and two staff accommodation buildings.

Vaavu Atoll Council stated the floating resort aims to introduce a new concept for the Maldivian tourism industry and to bolster the development of the atoll. The council stated the resort will be developed within 36 months and is expected to increase job opportunities.
