Maldives to conduct first national corruption perception survey

Anti-Corruption commission (ACC) has signed a contract with Villa College to conduct the first national corruption perception survey in the Maldives.

The contract was signed by Secretary General of ACC Mohamed Saleem and Rector at Villa College Dr. Ahmed Anwar. The survey aims to determine the public perception of corruption in the country in the last five years.

At the signing ceremony, Member of ACC Shiyama Mohamed highlighted the importance of gaining insight through scientific inquiries instead of relying on hearsay. She expressed confidence the results of the survey will contribute to the commission’s evidence-based work.

Also at the ceremony, Rector Anwar said public opinion and participation should be gained as part of the efforts to stop corruption. He also said the survey will assist in the college’s own research.

ACC is an independent legal entity established in 2008 with the mandate to promote integrity, prevent and combat corruption in all arms of the state.
