Beyond Airline to create more tourism and transportation sector jobs

Minister of Economic Development Fayyaz Ismail has revealed the introduction of Beyond Airline will create more jobs in the tourism and transportation sector.

Simdi Company Private Limited and the United Arab Emirates (UAE)-based investment firm Arabesque have formed Beyond Operations Private Limited for the purpose of launching the world's first luxury airline for leisure travel, Beyond Airlines.

As part of the process to launch the airline, Beyond Operations met with Minister Fayyaz and briefed him about the efforts underway. During the meeting, the minister welcomed the company for launching the airline in the Maldives, adding it is an important path opened for those visiting the country. He said the ministry will continue to work with parties in such initiatives which will result in jobs and further boost the economy.

At the meeting, the Chairman of Arabesque Tero Taskila revealed expectations that Beyond Airlines will begin operations early next year although a timeline for the start of operations has not yet been finalised. He said the airline is expected to create 200 new jobs in the aviation sector.

Managing Director of Simdi Mishal Ibrahim Mohamed Didi said the first all-premium class airline from the Maldives will be looking to grow to up to 60 nonstop destinations around the world. He said Simdi and Arabesque will bring affordable luxury travel with an ultimate private jet-like experience and the utmost comfort for direct long-haul flights.

For the past 25 years, Simdi has been bridging gaps in the commercial, travel, and hospitality industry by providing world-class, high-quality products and services in the Maldives. Meanwhile, Arabesque was founded by experienced aviation professionals, all of whom have held top management positions at top-tier airlines such as Lufthansa, Qatar Airways, and more.
