Rasdhoo Hospital tender documents sent to Kuwait Fund

Minister of Finance Ibrahim Ameer has stated the tender documents for the hospital to be developed in Rasdhoo, Alifu Alifu Atoll, have been sent to the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development.

In a written statement to the Parliament of the Maldives, Minister Ameer clarified the reason for the delay and gave details of the progress of the project. He said the tender documents for the 50-bed Alifu Alifu Atoll Hospital to be developed in Rasdhoo were sent to Kuwait Fund on September 12 and the tender process will start as soon as the approval is received. He added the loan agreement for the project is being discussed with Kuwait Fund and the agreement will be signed in the coming months.

On April 6, the Ministry of Finance announced it is seeking contractors for the development of 30-bed hospitals in seven islands with aid from the Kuwait Fund. The hospital development projects are carried out as part of the government’s policy to strengthen healthcare services in the atolls. In addition to the hospital development projects in these seven islands, the government is also developing tertiary hospitals in five regions across the country.
