Vice President urges caution while using digital technology

Vice President Faisal Naseem has advised the public to be aware of the dangers of digital technology as well as its ease of use. He made the remarks while speaking at the inauguration ceremony of National Cyber Security Awareness Month 2022 at CROSSROADS Maldives.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice President Naseem highlighted the importance of strengthening internet security and carefully planning the implementation of digital technology, as it would prevent huge damages from being incurred and reduce the safety risks for children. He also said that people can no longer live without technology and that its usefulness was proven during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Additionally, Vice President Naseem emphasised the dangers that come with the accessibility and prevalence of digital technology and expressed confidence that the Cybersafe Maldives initiative launched at the event will raise awareness of cyber security. He noted that there is no age limit for internet and technology usage, which increases the risk of danger for children if they are not properly monitored.

The Cybersafe Maldives is a national-level initiative for raising awareness of cyber security arranged by the National Centre for Information Technology (NCIT) and the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, and Technology. Under the initiative, October will be marked as National Cyber Security Awareness month.
