Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has officially handed over the keys to the residents of the Aero Residence.
At the ceremony, Minister of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure Mohamed Aslam handed over a monumental key to a family member of a deceased employee, a retired employee and a current employee.
Speaking at the ceremony, Managing Director Mahjoob Shujau said MACL is one of the most efficient state-owned companies that is able to operate the main Velana International Airport (VIA) due to the hard work and diligence of its employees. He said MACL employees are especially notable for their preparedness in emergency situations, noting the fire emergency exercises they participate in with the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF). He said MACL believes in providing various types of benefits for its employees to commemorate their work and that Aero Residence is part of these efforts.
MACL contracted China-based Beijing Urban Construction Group (BUCG) to build Aero Residence as a two-tower residential apartment complex as part of the government housing scheme. It has in total 384 residential apartments which includes 240 two-room apartments and 72 one-room apartments.
