Finey Council says residents have trust in the administration

Finey Island Council and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) has assured President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih that the residents have faith and trust in the administration. President Solih met with the members of the island council and the WDC at the council secretariat of Finey, Haa Dhaalu Atoll.

At the meeting, the members acknowledged the administration has completed three major development projects and highlighted there are several projects that are ongoing on the island. The council members also conferred their most pertinent needs to President Solih. Some of the issues highlighted at the meeting include the need for harbour expansion, restoring the old school building, the need for sports equipment and infrastructure, and the challenges faced due to a lack of a community centre on the island.

During the meeting, President Solih assured the members that the administration will find ways to address their concerns by consulting relevant authorities. He also briefed the council on the progress being made to build the multipurpose hall at the school, saying that the project is now in the bidding phase.

The administration has completed significant projects in Finey, including the provision of water supply, the installation of a water and sanitation network, the construction of the new powerhouse and office building, and the commissioning of a new electricity network. The Raajje Transport Link (RTL) high-speed ferry service is also connected to the island.
