President says biggest pledge is equitable development of all islands

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated the equitable development of all islands is the most important pledge of the administration. He made the remarks during the ceremony held to inaugurate the installation of a water and sewerage system, a power generation network, and a new powerhouse in Finey, Haa Dhaalu Atoll.

At the ceremony, President Solih said the residents of Finey will see more progress now that basic infrastructure has been established on the island and that the services would make the island a more livable place. He highlighted the importance of ensuring the equitable development of all islands and noted that communities previously had to take the initiative in establishing essential services such as clean water supply in their own islands, as previous governments did not consider it their duty to establish the services. He highlighted that islands can only be developed with the government’s involvement.

Furthermore, President Solih expressed satisfaction with the positive changes being made to Finey and expressed hope that they would enrich the lives of the island's residents. He also noted the new opportunities that would be available to the residents as a result of their proximity to Hanimaadhoo International Airport and the recent establishment of the Raajje Transport Link (RTL) services. He reflected on the challenges endured by the residents of the island over the years and identified the development of the island harbor as the next most important project, assuring the administration will take this initiative seriously.

After inaugurating the completion of the projects, President Solih toured the new powerhouse and its administrative building.
