President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has inaugurated the completion of three projects in Finey, Haa Dhaalu Atoll. He inaugurated the water and sewerage service, the power generation network, and the new powerhouse at a special ceremony.
At the ceremony, Managing Director of Fenaka Corporation Limited Ahmed Saeed commended the government for listening to the residents of Finey and establishing essential services, which will further assist in developing the small island community. He said there are still numerous development initiatives for the island and that the residents can trust Fenaka to provide services reliably and efficiently.
The old powerhouse in Finey was constructed over 18 years ago and was located near the island’s residential area, which led to noise and air pollution complaints. The new powerhouse includes a 570KW generator with a new power generation network.
The water and sewerage project in Finey began in October 2019, with sewerage services beginning in September 2022, and the water supply service beginning in August 2022. The services are managed by Fenaka and connect 179 households to the water supply network and 180 households to the sewerage network.
