Minister of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure Mohamed Aslam has revealed that infrastructure development projects worth USD1.2 billion are ongoing across the Maldives. He made the remarks at the ceremony to inaugurate the clean water supply network in Naivaadhoo, Haa Dhaalu Atoll. The network spanning 5,000m was developed by SAS-E Construction Private Limited.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Aslam gave details on the ongoing infrastructure projects, which include 44 harbour development projects that are worth USD233 million. He highlighted that road development projects have been completed in five islands while 21 road development projects worth USD239,000 are ongoing. He also said seven land reclamation projects have been completed while seven more reclamation projects worth USD311 million are ongoing.
Additionally, Minister Aslam said three airport development projects have been completed while three more projects worth USD54 million are ongoing. He also noted the government's highest priority of establishing essential services and said 11 water supply and sewerage projects have been completed while 130 projects worth USD375 million are ongoing. He added that the current presidential term will be notable for its efforts to establish clean, sustainable, and connected communities in the country.
