President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has begun a three-day official visit to Haa Alifu Atoll and Haa Dhaalu atoll. During the trip, he will visit Naivaadhoo and Finey in Haa Dhaalu Atoll and Utheemu and Dhidhdhoo in Haa Alifu Atoll.
During the visit, President Solih will inaugurate infrastructure projects initiated by the government on these islands. Some of the projects include the installation of water and sewerage systems and the construction of new powerhouses. He will also attend the ceremony held to mark the official commencement of Zone 1 of Raajje Transport Link (RTL) which connects 41 islands in Haa Alifu Atoll and Haa Dhaalu Atoll with a high-speed ferry service.
Moreover, President Solih will be joined by First Lady Fazna Ahmed in Utheemu to attend the official National Day celebrations. During the visit, he will also meet with members of the island councils and women’s development committees (WDCs) of the four islands. He is accompanied by senior government officials and is due to return back to Malé City on September 28.
