MMA prints new batch of MVR50 banknotes due to low stock

Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has announced it has printed new 50 Rufiyaa banknotes due to low stock.

In a press release, MMA stated the banknotes were printed due to a decline in the stock. The newly printed banknotes have been stored at the state treasury.

The Ran Dhihafaheh note series was launched in 2015 and is the third banknote series to be introduced in the Maldives. The series consisting of 10, 20, 50, 100, 500, and 1,000 Rufiyaa notes was introduced into circulation in 2016. The five Rufiyaa note was added to the series in 2017.

The Ran Dhihafaheh note series depicts different illustrations that showcase the country's unique natural beauty and the culture and craftsmanship of Maldivians. Each note was given a distinct topic and a representative colour for ease of use. Mixed media has been used as the main design, combining traditional acrylic with a semi-realistic style used in the colouring.
