MPL commissions new crane for Addu Regional Port

Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has commissioned a new crane for Addu Regional Port.

MPL stated the new 150T Zoomlion crane is expected to come into service within days. The new crane is expected to significantly improve the handling capabilities at the port, allowing safer, faster loading and unloading of cargo. Hithadhoo Port Limited stated the Addu Regional Port handles 100 T of cargo per hour but the new crane will allow it to increase the capacity to 300T.

Furthermore, MPL has contracted Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) to develop the port as part of the work to upgrade it to international standards.
