Transport Ministry orders drivers to correct vehicle registration plates

Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has ordered drivers to have correctly numbered vehicle registration plates.

The transport ministry stated some vehicles are not numbered in accordance with Articles 8 and 9 of the vehicle registration guidelines of the Land Transport Act. Therefore, the ministry urged drivers to adhere to the relevant guidelines when making registration plates for their vehicles.

The guidelines state vehicles with automotive engines are required to have registration plates provided by the vehicle registrar. As such, the letters and numbers on the plates are required to be in Arial Bold font with a specified size. The screws used to place the plates on the vehicles are not allowed to protrude one centimeter from the plate and drivers are not allowed to emboss the letters or use a pasted paper version of the registration plate.

Additionally, vehicles used for commercial and business purposes are required to use a yellow board with black letters, while vehicles used for consular missions are required to have blue boards with white letters. All other vehicles are required to have black boards with white letters.
